In a first-of-its-kind move, Tata Motors on Thursday announced huge price cuts on its electric vehicles, reducing the price of its most popular electric car model Tata Nexon EV to match its petrol and diesel variants for the first time. This is part of the Tata “Festival of Cars,” the company said, to align the prices of electric cars to those of ICE cars, making them more affordable for Indian EV buyers.

Tata Nexon EV Price Reductions
Tata Motors has cut the cost of its most popular Nexon EV by up to Rs. 3 lakh, reducing the starting price to Rs. 12.49 lakh (ex-showroom). This massive discount makes the Nexon EV now priced the same as its petrol and diesel counterparts, which range from Rs. 8 lakh to Rs. 15.80 lakh.
Along with the Nexon EV, its electric sibling Punch EV now starts at Rs. 9.99 lakh, after a deduction of up to Rs. 1.20 lakh.
‘Our singular purpose at TATA.ev is to mainstream EVs by breaking barriers and making EVs more accessible to regular car buyers,’ said Vivek Srivatsa, chief commercial officer at Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. ‘With these special, limited-period prices, we are breaking the high acquisition cost barrier for EVs and bringing EV prices closer to similar petrol and/or diesel-powered vehicles ‘, he added.
This ‘Festival of Cars’ season Tata aims to accelerate EV car sales across the nation. Apart from the major discounts on electric cars, this festive offer also includes six months of free charging at more than 5,500 Tata Power charging stations spread across India. This makes owning and running an electric car easy and cost-effective making them attractive for both inter-city and intra-city drives.

Tata Nexon EV has been a popular choice among many Indians ever since its launch, leading the electric vehicle segment. It’s actually the best-selling EV in India, capturing over 65% market share. The practicality, robust performance, and nationwide EV charging infrastructure from Tata Power have a big role to play in the success of the Nexon EV.
On the other hand, apart from the above offers, Tata Motors also did some price reductions on their other EV models as well. The Tiago EV and Punch EV are now very close to their ICE counterparts, which seems attractive to any new buyer. The Tiago EV remains at ₹7.99 lakh, while the prices of the Punch EV start at ₹9.99 lakh.
