India’s private, passenger, and commercial electric vehicle landscape is set for a significant transformation as Tata Motors, a leading automotive player, joins forces with Delta Electronics and Thunderplus Solutions to install 250 new fast charging stations across the country.
This strategic partnership aims to accelerate the adoption of electric commercial vehicles, particularly for last-mile deliveries, by addressing one of the key challenges in its adoption – inadequate EV charging infrastructure.
Currently, Tata Motors, in collaboration with Tata Power, operates nearly 5,000 public EV charging stations across India. The addition of 250 new ultrafast EV charging stations will significantly enhance this network, making it easier for businesses to operate electric fleets, and reducing range anxiety for potential EV buyers.
Tata Motors Partners with Delta, Thunderplus for the expansion of charging stations is a crucial step in making electric vehicles a viable and attractive option for businesses. By increasing the availability of charging points, Tata Motors is addressing the issue of range anxiety among potential EV buyers in India. This move will not only benefit businesses but also contribute to a cleaner and greener environment.
Under this MoU, Delta Electronics will supply the necessary EV charging hardware, known for its innovative, clean, and energy-efficient solutions AC and DC EV chargers. Whereas, Thunderplus Solutions will oversee the installation and operation of these stations, ensuring reliable and efficient charging experiences for EV owners in India.

This collaboration will strategically place charging stations in optimal traffic-rich locations alongside national highways, connecting major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Pune, and Kochi.
Key benefits of this partnership
- Charging Network Expansion: The addition of 250 new fast charging stations will significantly enhance the existing network, making it easier for businesses to operate electric fleets.
- Increased Vehicle Uptime: With more ultrafast EV charging stations available, electric commercial vehicles can spend less time charging and more time on the road, enhancing productivity and profitability for businesses.
- Support for Last-Mile Deliveries: The strategic placement of charging stations will particularly benefit last-mile delivery services driven by commercial electric three-wheelers and four-wheelers, ensuring that electric vehicles can operate seamlessly in urban and suburban areas without the risk of running out of charge.
- Operational Excellence: Being an EV owner myself, I have found most Tata charging stations non-operation due to poor maintenance, despite being in such large numbers. However, after the MoU, Thunderplus Solutions will handle the installation and operation of the charging stations, guaranteeing a seamless and dependable charging infrastructure.
- Boost for Tata Motors’ Ace EV: Tata Motors’ Ace EV, a popular electric commercial vehicle, will be a major beneficiary of this partnership between the three parties. With a growing network of charging stations, businesses can confidently buy the Ace EV for their last-mile delivery needs, knowing that they have access to reliable charging infrastructure.
- Environmental Benefits: Lastly, by expanding the EV charging infrastructure leading to the acceleration of the EV adoption process, the partnership will contribute to lower greenhouse gas emissions and a cleaner environment.
Tata Motor’s partnership with Delta and Thunderplus is a significant milestone in India’s journey towards electric vehicle adoption. By expanding the EV charging infrastructure, the company is making electric vehicles a more practical and attractive option for businesses, paving the way for a greener and more sustainable future.
