Creta has consistently been a top seller in the Indian market since its launch. Considering its popularity and the global shift towards electric vehicles, Hyundai is all set to introduce a third electric car for the Indian market – the Hyundai Creta EV. Likely to be the most affordable electric car from Hyundai, is expected to hit Indian roads sometime between late 2024 and early 2025.

Currently, the company offers Kona EV and Ioniq 5 as the brand’s electric offering for the Indian market. However, the recently trending spy shots of the upcoming Creta electric car’s design have created a buzz among Indian EV enthusiasts. The Hyundai Creta EV is expected to be priced at Rs 20 lakh in India. It is the most affordable variant compared to its direct rivals: MG ZS EV, and Maruti Suzuki eVX. The Creta EV is expected to launch in India in June 2024. This competitive pricing and popularity in the Indian automotive sector can be a game changer for Hyundai.

Creta EV Exterior Design

The Hyundai Creta EV will borrow the overall design from its petrol variant, but with some noticeable EV-specific design changes to set it apart such as the closed-off grille. There is a charging port on the front for easy access. Hyundai introduced a modern futuristic design in the Creta EV with newly designed bumpers and aerodynamic wheels.

Hyundai Creta EV Interior

The latest spy shots of the camouflaged test mule of the Creta EV reveal a stylish and modern interior. The cabin layout is similar to its ICE variant having comfortable seats, a dashboard, and a center console.

However, one of our team members spotted the recent test mule and noticed a clean and minimal screen setup with a central infotainment screen and a digital driver’s display. Other practical features include a wireless phone charger, excellent climate control with ventilated seats, and a comparatively bigger sunroof.

Creta EV Powertrain

Hyundai Creta EV gets a powertrain similar to the Kona EV variant with a front-wheel-drive configuration offering 138 hp power and 255 Nm of torque. This platform will be sourced from the ICE Creta with certain EV-specific modifications to fit the battery pack and large motor.

Hyundai Creta EV Range, Battery, and Performance

Hyundai Creta EV gets a 45 kWh lithium-ion battery offering an estimated driving range of 400km on a single charge. The range is decent for a compact electric SUV, enough for most daily commutes and long trips.

Safety Features

Hyundai prioritized safety in the new Creta EV along with design and performance. It comes with a lot of safety features, including advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), EV stability control for extra control, rear parking sensors, and cameras. It also gets a Geo-Fencing enabled Anti-theft alarm for added safety.

Hyundai Creta Electric Rivals

Upon its launch, the Hyundai Creta EV will rival established players like the MG ZS EV and Maruti Suzuki eVX. Both have a slightly larger battery pack compared to the Creta EV. In terms of price, the Hyundai Creta EV is the most affordable among the three direct rivals at a starting price of Rs 20 Lakh.

The Hyundai Creta EV is an excellent offering by the company for the Indian EV market while leveraging the popularity of the Creta brand name. With an electric design, enhanced powertrain, and lots of safety features, the Hyundai Creta EV has the potential to be India’s ideal choice for a stylish and practical electric car. However, having only some months from its official launch, we eagerly await for more information from Hyundai about its new electric offering.
