Iconic Hero HF Dawn Returns With 97cc Engine, at Rs 60,000

Who doesn’t remember the iconic HF Dawn By Hero? And Guess what, the Hero HF Dawn is making a much-anticipated return to the Indian market. Discontinued in 2017 due to a sales slump and the shift to BSIV emission standards, this iconic bike is now set to re-enter the electric two-wheeler market with a blend of classiness and modern upgrades. Recently, exclusive spy images have surfaced online, giving us a sneak peek into what Hero MotoCorp has in store for us.

HF Dawn 2024: Design and Features

The new HF Dawn retains the classic essence while incorporating several modern touches. The spy images reveal an almost production-ready bike, featuring several new designs and feature upgrades:

  • Black Alloy Wheels: The reintroduced HF Dawn is seen with a new pair of alloy wheels that not only enhance the bike’s aesthetics but also promise durability and performance.
  • Long Single-Piece Seat: It is designed with comfort in mind, ensuring a pleasant ride for both the rider and the pillion.
  • Black Finished Exhaust System: This Time Hero has introduced a black finished exhaust compared to its silver design in the older models. It adds a sleek, modern look to the bike.
  • Tubular Grab Handle and Mirrors: Though minimal, these new upgrades make the HF Dawn more functional and stylish, designed for everyday use.
  • Halogen Turn Signals and Tail Lamp: Honda decided to retain the traditional halogen turn signals, which can always be converted to LEDs with aftermarket setup. These lighting elements ensure visibility and safety for riders.
  • Circular Halogen Headlamp Unit: A distinctive feature that gives the HF Dawn its unique identity.
  • The side panels, fuel tank, and bodywork have been subtly redesigned to give the bike a refreshed look while maintaining its classic appeal.

New HF Dawn: Technical Specifications

Under the wraps, the to-be-launched HF Dawn is powered by a 97.2 cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine. This classic engine delivers 7.91 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 8.05 Nm at 6,000 rpm, paired with a four-speed transmission. This setup promises smooth and reliable performance, which is ideal for city commuting.

Additional features in the HF Dawn

Additionally, the upcoming Dawn features front and rear drum brakes, ensuring reliable stopping power for both wheels. It comes with a side-stand engine cutoff to prevent the engine from starting when the side stand is down.

The hydraulic shock absorbers improve the riding comfort of the bike, especially on rough or bumpy roads. Additionally, the i3S technology, Hero’s patented Idle Stop-Start System, helps save fuel by automatically shutting off the engine when idling and restarting it when needed, making it more efficient.

Hero MotoCorp aims to strengthen its position in the 100 cc segment with the reintroduction of the iconic Dawn. This is a strategic move by Hero MotoCorp, competing with popular models like the Honda Shine 100. The HF Dawn is expected to be priced between Rs. 56,300 and Rs. 68,500 (ex-showroom), making it an attractive option for budget-conscious buyers in India.

It stands out in comparison to its rivals by blending nostalgia with modern features, reviving a legacy for many riders. It promises better fuel efficiency with i3S technology, making it ideal for daily commuters.

Known for their durability, Hero bikes, including the HF Dawn, are seen as long-term investments. Also, being positioned in the mid-range of Hero’s 100 cc lineup, it balances features and affordability, appealing to a broad customer base.
