The Bayerische Motoren Werke(BMW), a German multinational corporate manufacturer of luxury vehicles and motorcycles has launched its second electric car in India named MINI Cooper SE, post the launch of its first electric car BMW iX.

The BMW Group has launched its second electric vehicle – MINI Cooper SE electric car in India which comes with a smooth body panel and regular front grille which makes it look very elegant. Post the launch of its first version of electric car- BMW iX, the company has launched the electrified version of the three-doored hatchback MINI Cooper, which was launched earlier in 2019.
The first version of the BMW MINI Cooper SE electric car was launched in India on 24 February 2022. Right after the pre-booking window was opened, 30 units were already sold out, which clearly shows the positive response from Indian buyers.
BMW Mini Cooper SE: Design
Running on aero-optimized wheels, the MINI Cooper SE features neon yellow accents on both interior and exterior of the electric car. Along with a lot of chrome accents, the car has an E badge to notify about it being an electric variant. The car also comes with an upgraded smooth body panel and front grill iconic to most of the mini cooper variants.
BMW MINI Cooper SE: Battery, Power & Range
Talking about the battery, the all-new MINI Cooper SE powers the vehicles with a 32.6kWh lithium-ion battery which offers a claimed driving range of 270 km on a single full charge. However, WLTP certified the on-road realistic range of 233 km, which is indeed a good buy. The electric power drive in the BMW electric car offers 184 hp of power and 270 Nm of torque. With these powertrain specifications, the MINI Cooper SE is capable of running at a top speed of 150kmph and is capable of sprinting at 0-100kmph in 7.3 seconds.
After launch, the new MINI Cooper EV is said to be the most affordable luxury electric car offered by the company in India. Earlier too, BMW made a mark in the Indian EV industry with the launch of its first electric car BMW iX, which received a great positive response from Indian buyers.
Inbuilt with an upgraded fast charging technology, the MINI Cooper SE electric car can be charged from 0 to 80 percent in 2.5 hours using an 11kW charger while a 50kW DC fast charger can charge from 0 to 80 percent in just 36 minutes.

By 2030, India has set a target of 70% sales for commercial EV, 30% private EV cars,40% buses, 80% of 2 and 3 wheelers. However, the high cost of EVs and only 1028 EV charging stations across India are the major constraints for the slow-moving sale of Electric vehicles in the country.
