Considering the recent flux of electric vehicles in the global automobile market, MG Motors has plans to launch a number of electric vehicles in the upcoming years. Confirming the reports by releasing a teaser video on its social handle, MG Motors is all set to launch the iconic all-new MG 4 electric car in the affordable segment towards the end of 2022.
MG Motors is already a strong player in the EV market post the launch of its much loved MG ZS EV electric car. Unlike the ZS, MG4 is an all-new battery-powered crossover electric car with excellent features and aerodynamics, can be a tough competitor to Volkswagen ID.3
According to MG motors, the MG 4 is designed with the UK Consumers in mind as of now and will be launched in the UK and other regions of Europe as initial trails.
MG 4 Electric Car : Features
Well, not much is revealed from the company about its new crossover EV as of now. However wrapped in orange paint, the design and looks indicate it to be a versatile SUV model launch.
Some major highlights from the teaser video like the high bonnet line, fat tailgate, and wide front fenders indicate a fresh new electric SUV from MG Motors.
MG 4: Exterior Design
Major exterior designs revealed from the video showcases a crossover design with a sharp shoulder line, dual-tone diamond-cut alloy wheels, black plastic claddings on doors, black finish rear-view mirror.
At the back, MG 4 features new Y-shaped taillights with an extended light bar and MG logo at the middle. Video released from the company highlights a camera on the rear-view mirror, which indicates the presence of 360-degree functionality.
A recent tweet from MG Motors mentions the MG 4 electric car to be 4,300mm in length, making it a close competitor to Volkswagen ID.3, Hyundai Creta, and Kia Seltos.
MG 4 Electric Car: Power
The company’s brand new MG 4 electric car is expected to be a close competitor to upcoming electric SUVs from Kia and Volkswagen.
The inbuilt battery pack is expected to power the massive electric motor to generate a maximum power of 154 bhp and 260 Nm of torque. Experts at ecogears state that these numbers in power units can easily help sprint the MG electric car from 0-100 kmph in over 6 seconds. However, the top speed will remain between 140 kmph – 190 kmph.
MG 4 EV: Battery and Range
To carter the range-conscious buyers of EVs, MG Motors is expected to launch the MG 4 electric car with a massive 61.1 kWh battery pack. Built with a fast charging technology backend, the car is expected to get fully charged in 60 mins with a DC fast charger.
Based on the WLTP cycle of 61.1 kWh battery, the MG 4 electric car is expected to offer a sweet driving range of 400 km on a single charge.
Going by the hashtag in a tweet posted by MG motors “#MGElectricforAll” it can be expected that the MG 4 electric car will be launched in an affordable segment.
Earlier this year MG Motors stated about its plans to launch an affordable EV in the Indian market, however it is unclear if the MG 4 electric model will be launched in India this year.
