India has about 84,600 petrol pumps, of which 8,900 petrol pumps are likely to offer EV charging facilities and alternative fuels like LPG and CNG.

- More than 200 privately owned Petrol Pumps are likely to start CNG, LPG, and EV charging facilities.
- At present, there are 4,700 standalone CNG, Electric Vehicle charging stations in India.
One in every 10 petrol pump in India is likely to offer alternative fuel options, which includes EV charging facility, CNG, and LPG fuel options.
According to the data provided by the Oil Ministry, India has about 84,600 petrol pumps, out of which 8,900 petrol pumps are likely to offer EV charging facilities and alternative fuels like LPG and CNG.
Any person who wants to buy an Electric Vehicle can easily get an EV charging facility as well as other alternative fuel options such as CNG and LPG in one stop, as more than 8000 petrol pump is likely to offer EV charging facilities.
In addition to that, 4100 petrol pumps are likely to offer EV charging facility and 4,000 petrol pump is likely to facilitate with CNG fuel.
Along with that 700 pumps is likely to provide an LPG facility.
Meanwhile, 10 % of the total petrol stations in India are owned by the private sector. Moreover, less than 200 pumps owned by private players are also providing alternative fuel options like CNG, LPG, and EV charging facilities.

As India is shifting towards green mobility, many players of oil industry retailers in India like Bharat Petroleum, Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum are slowly including EV charging and CNG into their business structure.
Additionally, all these companies are getting ready to obtain licenses to supply natural gases all over India.
Moreover, Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, and HPCL are also planning to set up EV charging facilities at nearly 22,000 petrol pumps in the coming few years.
Currently, the total number of standalone CNG refilling stations in India is 4,700. Additionally, 5 years before there were only around 1,270 CNG stations.
According to Economic Times, there will be around 10,000 CNG fuel stations in the coming 7 years in India,
As, GOI has set up goals for a shift in the mobility pattern by 2030, making India a carbon-neutral nation.
At this time GOI and stakeholders of many oil companies are aiming to add alternative fuel facilities and EV charging facilities in existing petrol pumps.
BPCL recently announced the installation of 7000 new EV Charging stations in India with a vision to cater to the barrier to EV adoption in the Nation. Earlier, BPCL had already installed the 25kW DCfast charging.
