Tata Motors has entered the highly competitive mid-size SUV segment with its new Tata Curvv in both ICE and Electric variants, aiming to rival long-time favorites like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. We recently had the pleasure of taking the top-of-the-line Tata Curvv EV 55 for a spin in the streets of Mumbai. This EV variant offers two battery options – 45kWh and 55kWh, with a price range of ₹17.49 lakh to ₹21.99 lahks (ex-showroom).
As the flagship model in Tata’s new electric SUV lineup, the Curvv EV promises a blend of style, performance, and advanced technology. Join us as we delve into what makes Tata Curvv EV stand out and how it performs in the urban environment.
Exterior: Sleek Design with a Modern Twist
At first glance, the Tata Curvv EV grabs attention with its stylish and aerodynamic design. From the front, it resembles Tata’s other EV siblings, featuring a slim LED light bar that runs across the front, paired with a closed-off grille hiding the charging port.
The special coupe-like sloping roofline gave it a sporty feel, while additional design details like flush door handles and 18-inch alloy wheels with aero inserts added to its futuristic look.
The rear of the car is just as striking as the front, with LED light bars and a roof-mounted spoiler that gives the Curvv EV a premium electric SUV vibe.
However, it’s worth noting that, like many coupe SUVs, the Curvv EV doesn’t have a rear wiper, which may be a minor inconvenience for some. It is due to the design and shape of the rear windshield.

Tata Curvv EV: Comfortable and Tech-Packed Interior
As we stepped inside the latest Curvv EV, we were greeted with its modern, well-designed cabin. The dashboard is sleek, featuring a 12.3-inch touchscreen for infotainment, while the massive 10.25-inch digital display offers essential driving information.
The layout feels familiar, especially after driving the Nexon EV, but the Curvv’s interior has a more upmarket feel, thanks to the soft-touch materials and color contrasting stitching. It’s more like a Gucci bag with silver stitching.
The SUV is packed with tons of features that make driving more enjoyable and convenient. It gets a wireless phone charger, panoramic sunroof, a 9-speaker JBL sound system, and connected car tech for Apple and Android Play.
Not surprising, but definitely excited that both the front seats in the Tata Curvv EV are ventilated, and the driver’s seat is power-adjustable, ensuring comfort during long drives. While the rear seats are roomy enough for two adults and a child, however, it feels slightly less spacious compared to other new cars launched in this same category. To the rescue, the Curvv gets a powered tailgate with gesture control, a first in its segment, along with 500 liters of boot space, making it practical for everyday use.
Curvv EV Review: A Smooth Performance
When it comes to performance, Tata electric cars never disappoint. We drove the top-spec 55kWh battery variant, which delivers 165bhp power and offers a range of up to 585 kilometers on a single charge. During the test, we were low on battery at some point. But thanks to its rapid charging capabilities, we could add 200 kilometers of range in just 20 minutes using a 60 kW DC fast charger. This should ease any range anxiety, especially for long-distance drivers.
The Curvv EV features three driving modes: Eco, City, and Sport, tailored to different driving needs. In Eco mode, the focus is on maximizing efficiency, which is great for longer drives or when you’re trying to stretch the battery in case the next EV charger is far. City mode offers a nice balance between acceleration and efficiency. It delivers smooth acceleration while maintaining a good level of efficiency on the road.
Now to the best part of our test drive, Sport mode is where the Curvv really comes alive, offering quick throttle response and a more spirited driving experience. The transition between modes is seamless, and the car’s performance adjusts accordingly, making it easy to adapt to different driving conditions and driving behaviors.
Handling is another area where the Curvv EV shines with its smooth steering response. It simply glides over potholes and bumps effortlessly, all those we found on our way to the outskirts of Mumbai. It made rough patches of country roads manageable. On the highway, the car feels stable and composed, with responsive steering that makes longer trips enjoyable. Overall, it offered a smooth and comfortable ride, which ideal for both urban travel and extended road trips.
