In its launch month, the Curvv EV achieved sales of 3,455 units, representing 7.83% of Tata’s total sales for August 2024.
Tata Motors had a busy August 2024, especially with the launch of the new Tata Curvv in both ICE and EV variants. Like other months, the August sales reports have arrived, and they show a 1.3% decline in the overall Tata Motors sales compared to July 2024. Even though the company saw a small drop in overall sales, the newly introduced Tata Curvv brought new energy to the sector with massive first-month sales figures.
Tata Motors Sales August 2024
In August 2024, Tata Motors sold 44,142 cars, which is a 3% drop compared to the 45,515 units sold in August 2023. There was also a 1.3% dip compared to 44,727 units sold in July 2024. Despite this, the new Tata Curvv EV added some excitement to Tata’s sales performance which helped Tata Motors achieve a market share of 12.5 per cent in August 2024. Along with the Curvv, sales of Punch and Nexon accounted for over 60% of Tata’s total sales, making them crucial to the brand’s performance.
Tata Curvv EV’s Strong Start
The Tata Curvv EV did well in its first month after its launch, selling 3,455 units in August 2024. This new electric SUV coupe grabbed 7.83% of Tata’s total sales for August 2024. Sales figures are expected to soar in the upcoming months, since its ICE variant has been introduced lately, and it is receiving a good response from Auto experts.
The Curvv stands out with its futuristic design, sloping roofline, and spacious interior packed with premium features. It gets a powerful electric motor offering a great range per charge, targeting both city and long-distance drivers. Its competitive pricing of Rs. 12.5 lakh gives it an edge in the growing EV market. These factors have made Curvv an important addition to Tata’s lineup, helping the brand make up for the decline in sales of other models.

Sales of Other Tata Models
While the Curvv had a great start in August, other Tata models showed mixed results. The Tata Punch remained the top seller with 15,643 units sold, marking an 8% YoY growth from August 2023. The Nexon came second with 12,289 units, up by a huge 53% year-on-year growth. On the other hand, the Tiago saw a sharp drop this month, selling only 4,733 units, which is a 50% decline from August 2023.
Growing Electric Vehicle Lineup
Electric cars are an integral part of Tata Car’s automotive lineup. Along with Tata Curvv EV, Tata Motors now offers electric versions of five out of its eight models. The most popular among Tata’s electric lineup, the Nexon EV, contributes significantly to the brand’s overall sales performance. In August 2024, the Nexon EV sold 12,289 units, capturing a 27.84% share of Tata’s total car sales. Followed by the recently launched Punch EV, contributing an overall 35.44% share of the Punch model in Tata’s sales.
Launched this August, Curvv EV’s first month sales are at 3,455 units, accounting for 7.83% of Tata’s total sales in August 2024. Other notable Tata electric Car models include the Tata Tiago EV, which, despite a decline, still contributed to the overall sales figures.
The Tiago EV sold 4,733 units, with a 49.98% YoY decline but still holding a 10.72% share of Tata’s total sales. Also, the Tata Tigor EV, even with a steep decline in sales trend, sold 1,148 units, contributing 2.60% of the total sales.
Even though Tata Motors had some sales challenges in August 2024, the launch of the Tata Curvv EV played a key role in shaping its sales. Importantly, the sales figures are sure to rise once the FAME III EV policy is launched, making EVs more affordable with subsidies. The electric variant of the Curvv has started strong in India’s automotive market, which points to an exciting future for Tata’s EV lineup.
