Key Highlights:
- Both the models have become affordable by Rs. 8,000.

- New Battery cells to offer more range with the same capacity.
India’s two-wheeler giant, Bajaj Auto has taken a bold step with its Chetak electric scooter lineup. Both the premium and Urbane variants of the Chetak EV are about to become even more appealing to customers with an upcoming price reduction of Rs. 8,000.
Also, the Premium and Urbane models will be renamed 3201 and 3202, respectively. This move is set to shake up the Indian electric scooter market, making the Chetak EV an even stronger contender. But what does this mean for potential buyers and the competition? Let’s dive deep into the details.
Chetak EV Price Reduction
Bajaj has announced to reduce the prices of both Chetak EV variants due to increased competition, advancements in battery technology, and a strategic move to attract a broader customer base, to meet its 10,000 sales target by Diwali. Previously, the Chetak EV Premium was priced at Rs 1.47 lakh, while the Urbane EV variant stood at Rs 1.23 lakh.
However, with the latest Bajaj Chetak EV price update, their prices have been reduced by Rs 8,000 each, bringing the new price for the Premium to Rs 1.39 lakh and the Urbane to Rs 1.15 lakh. This move aligns with the company’s goals to make electric scooters affordable in India, convincing budget-conscious Indian buyers to switch to electric vehicles. While, with no current offers running, the newly launched 2901 variant is priced at Rs. 95,998 in India.

Chetak EV Rebranding
As a part of the latest move by the company’s CEO, Rahul Bajaj, the Premium and Urbane variants will be rebranded as 3201 and 3202, respectively. The new names signify the introduction of the 3.2kWh battery pack, which has been a game-changer for the Chetak electric lineup, driving most of their sales.
This new name convention makes it easier for consumers to differentiate the Chetak EV models based on their battery capacity, a feature that matters the most in an e-scooter.
Apart from these two major updates, the company made an update last week on the introduction of new battery cells in Chetak EV variants. These new EV battery cells offer a higher range compared to the current battery pack while maintaining the same capacity. The new EV cells from Bajaj Auto are more efficient, allowing the scooter to cover more distance on a single charge, which is a huge selling point in India. Sure you know that range is a major concern for Indian EV buyers.
Let’s understand how the new update impacts competition. The TVS iQube and Ather 450x have been Chetak’s biggest rivals since the launch, offering a similar design and technology. However, with the new battery cells and price reduction, the Chetak is now in a better position to compete. The increased range gives an edge over the iQube and 450x, with a slightly lower range.
The Bajaj Chetak EV price reduction and rebranding are expected to have a significant effect throughout the Indian electric scooter market. With the Chetak now becoming more affordable, other electric two-wheeler manufacturers will likely need to adjust their pricing strategies to stay competitive. This could lead to a price war, which would be great news for consumers looking for affordable electric scooters.
