The Mahindra Thar Roxx has hit the Indian car market, and it’s making quite an impression. This new 5-door version of the iconic Thar is bigger and better than its sibling, stretching out to 4,428 mm in length. That extra length, along with a 400 mm longer wheelbase, provides more room inside and a larger boot space. It’s an excellent upgrade for those needing more space for their gear or family.
We had a chance to test drive the New Mahindra Thar Roxx in Pune recently. In this article about the Thar Roxx review, we have mentioned our first-hand review of its design, interior, performance, pricing, and more, to help you make informed decisions before buying. Here’s what we noticed on our test review:
New Design, Same Rugged Feel
The newly launched Thar Roxx keeps the beloved iconic Thar looks with its round headlights and robust wheels, but adds a few modern touches to it. The new 6-slat grille and C-shaped LED taillights give it a new look. While the new roofline might take a little getting used to, it doesn’t overkill the rugged appeal. The Roxx manages to keep the tough look while adding a fresh stylish twist to it.
Thar Roxx Inside: Comfort Meets Modern Features
Step inside the Thar Roxx, and you’ll find a cabin that’s both comfortable and stylish. The dashboard of Roxx features soft luxury materials with a new touchscreen and a digital display. The leather seats and a panoramic sunroof add a touch of luxury.
It also gets connected features like Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, along with Harman-Kardon speakers. The white seats in some models might not be the best choice for off-road lovers, but the overall new setup is impressive. The cabin includes an electronic parking brake, cruise control, and ventilated front seats.
Accessing the back row might still be tricky in the 5-door Thar Roxx due to the narrow door openings, but once you’re in, the seats offer good comfort and plenty of space for the passengers. Rear passengers get two USB ports and an AC vent. Although the seat support could be improved in the New Thar Roxx..
Thar Roxx review: Driving Experience
In terms of performance, the Thar Roxx comes with two engine options: a 2-litre turbo-petrol and a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine. We tested the 4×4 diesel model in Delhi, which performed well with smooth power and less noise inside the cabin. The drive quality and steering response are noticeably better than before, though it can still be a bit bumpy at lower speeds. Overall, the new Thar Roxx handles speed breakers and rough patches more comfortably, making it a solid choice for longer drives.
Off-Road Ready
The Thar Roxx is designed for adventure and is a perfect fit for off-road lovers. It features a low-range transfer case, an updated terrain select mode, and an electronic locking differential. With a water-wading depth of up to 650 mm, it’s built to handle tough road conditions.
Thar Roxx: Pricing and Availability
The Thar Roxx is priced between Rs. 12.99 lakh and Rs. 20.49 lakh(ex-showroom) for the rear-wheel-drive variant, while the 4×4 variant is priced at Rs. 23 lakh. It comes in six variants, and the bookings for the 4×4 models start from October 3, from the official website. With its competitive pricing and upgraded features, the Thar Roxx can be regarded as the iconic SUV of the year.
After a proud test drive of the iconic Made-in-India car, it is wise to say that the Mahindra Thar Roxx brings a modern upgrade to a classic favorite. It offers more space, updated features, and a stylish new design compared to its currently available sibling, making it a strong choice for SUV buyers looking for a practical and reliable car for urban and adventure drives.
