In a bold statement at BT India@100 Conclave in New Delhi, Bhavish Aggarwal, CEO of Ola, said, ‘I started Krutrim AI before Elon Musk launched his AI venture.’ This remark has sparked widespread interest, highlighting Aggarwal’s pioneering efforts in artificial intelligence (AI) and his vision for the future of AI in India.”

Aggarwal’s comments during the BT India@100 conclave have drawn attention to his entrepreneurial journey and the synergetic growth of AI and electric vehicle (EV) industries in India.

Speaking at the conclave, Aggarwal emphasized the importance of building Indian AI models. “It’s very important for the Indian ecosystem, economy, and entrepreneurs like ourselves to build an India AI model for multiple reasons. AI is going to be a very strong force for cultural assimilation,” he stated.

Aggarwal also took the opportunity to comment on Tesla’s market strategy, saying, “Tesla is a great company, but it’s time for Elon Musk to try something new. Tesla’s focus on serving the wealthy might limit its broader impact.”

Krutrim AI, an Indian AI model founded by Bhavish Aggarwal, aims to revolutionize the AI landscape in India. Ola has introduced the Krutrim AI voice assistant in its new lineup of Ola Roadster electric bikes launched on August 15, 2024. This integration aims to enhance the user experience by providing seamless voice-activated controls and personalized assistance.

The Krutrim AI voice assistant supports multiple Indic languages, making it accessible to a broader audience. This feature allows riders to control various functions of the bike, such as navigation, music, and calls, through simple voice commands, ensuring a safer and more convenient ride.

Aggarwal shared his ambitious plans for Krutrim AI, stating, “We are building a full-stack computing platform for the Indian context, in Indian languages. Our AI chatbot app, which is in beta testing, is currently available to the public.”

The global AI market is expected to grow significantly in the coming years, with India playing a crucial role in this expansion. Companies are investing heavily in AI technology and cost-reduction strategies to stay ahead in this dynamic industry.
