Tata Nexon EV is by far the most sold electric car in India, launched on January 28, 2020. The car gained significant popularity in the Indian electric vehicle market in just a few years. By August 2024, it had sold over 75,000 units, while August 2024 alone saw sales reach 4,500 units, indicating the rising preference among Indian customers. Considering this market demand, Tata Motors has launched a new Nexon EV variant with Red Upholstery on the inside and lining on the exterior. Which Variant gets the Red Dark Edition?
Red Dark Edition is the recent upgrade launched as a part of the festive Tata Cars launch this year, along with the 45 kWh battery variant launch. This Edition is exclusively introduced to the Empowered+ trim, priced at ₹17.99 lakh (ex-showroom across India). The Red Dark Edition stands out in the Nexon EV lineup with a bold red-themed design both inside and out.
On the Inside, it gets seats in a red-colored theme, whereas on the outside it gets some cool new red lining over the dark black paint tone.
New Changes and Features
Apart from the interior and exterior red theme changes, the new Red Dark Edition of the Empowered+ variants gets full gloss black paint, black wheels, and a black dashboard accented with red stitching. The infotainment system sports a Red Dark-themed interface, giving the car a premium and sporty feel like the Hyundai N-Line.
Other changes include six airbags across all variants and, an optimized battery management system for the new 45 kWh battery pack offering an extended range.

Key Features of the Empowered+ Variant
The key features in the Red Dark Edition of the Empowered+ variant are:
- Voice-controlled panoramic sunroof for added convenience.
- Dual 10.25-inch displays: One display for infotainment, the other for the instrument cluster, enhancing the driving experience.
- 360-degree camera for improved parking and safety.
Battery and Performance
The Red Dark Edition Nexon EV is equipped with a 45 kWh battery offering Tata’s C75 certified range of 489 km on a single charge. The electric motor in the upgraded Nexon EV generates 110 kW of power and 215 Nm of torque, accelerating ability from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds. On top of these, it gets fast charging enabling 10% to 80% charge in 40 minutes using a 60 kW DC fast charger.
